MY YEAR ON DPS

by Jerome Dodd

September

I am starting my DPS blog in September. This follows on from the very end of August where I DJ’d at Circle One, an independent festival and the first festival I have been on the lineup for. This month I reached out to a lot of sound houses as well as played guitar for a gig with singer Vianne. I began working on the score for the film Godflower and applied for a residency at the MeetFactory in Prague.

October

October was a busy month for me. I attended many events including the Virus afterparty for Marina Abramovich’s Saatchi Yates exhibition, the Lee Miller exhibition at Tate Britain, ILM with the Animation students, Tanoa Sasraku: Morale Patch at the ICA, Goldsmith CCA for Lawrence Lek: Life After Automation and the Fortress Halloween Party.

As well as this I recorded for ACTSA at the House of Lords and worked on the post production and music.

November

In November, I attended the SoundImage Festival which takes place at Greenwich University. I had a great time meeting with different researchers and practitioners and engaging with really interesting work. I left feeling very inspired. I also visited Somerset House for Wayne Mcgregor’s Infinite Bodies and attended a showcase by A Guy Called Gerald of the new Roland TR1000 Drum Machine. I continued to work on the score for Godflower and ACTSA.

This month also saw a collaborative album I had been apart of with other members of University featured in the Bandcamp ‘Best Field Recording Albums on Bandcamp, October 2025.’

I also began working on my Fortress release Sinofuturism/Shard, scored the short film Love is Pain and got accepted onto ICA X Diaspora Now Term 2.

Following on from the Mode Fortress Christmas Special I submitted a mix for my own Mode Residency. This was accepted in January and I became a Mode Resident. I also worked on the Get Living Live Brief, was a runner on set for Nate Brazier’s For Me music video and worked on a music/sound design project based around the LCC archives. I also visited father sound, a post production sound house and attended a concert by Carrier at the ICA.
